RASVUMCHORR MINE OAO "APATITE"

Rasvumchorrsky mine was opened in 1954. It is situated 8 kilometers from the city of Kirovsk and 200 kilometers from Murmansk. The annual output is 3.2 million tons of apatite-nepheline ore. The extraction is carried out mainly by an underground method. 

Climatic features:

the location of the mine (200 kilometers north of the Polar Circle) and mountainous terrain create harsh climatic conditions of work: the average annual temperature during the operation of the air heater is 8.1 ° C, the daily temperature fluctuations are up to 20 ° C, the heating season for the main fan heater unit begins in September and ends in May (280 days). Remote objects of the mine are often difficult to reach due to snowdrifts caused by snowstorms.
